| RoboFan_93 : | | In a new interview regarding their "Terminator 2D: No Fate" game, the Bitmap Brothers mention being in talks about other licenses and working on something "in the same ballpark"... with a RoboCop figure being visible in the background. |
No Fate looks really good, I will definitely be picking it up when it comes out. Of course, when I first saw the trailer my first thought was how cool it would be to see RoboCop get the same treatment. Rogue City got. decent reviews and seemed to sell well enough to put out Unfinished Business at least, and I imagine a 2D sidescroller is a bit easier to pull off. Weller is onboard to give his likeness which is a big selling point of No Fate, so all the pieces are there... for RoboCop vs Terminator! Its cool to see multiple new RoboCop games AND multiple new Terminator games coming out in recent years, but one of these developers needs to stop messing around and give us what we really need!

If anyone doesn't own the game yet, it's included in the Steam summer sale and its 90% off currently. _________________

Badass trailer, but the whole time I was thinking about how the dude called it "a standalone expenstion" like with an 'e' instead of an 'a' in the word "expansion"... maybe its just me. Anyway, I notice that this trailer gives us a good look at the robot ninjas and the playable ED-209 section. I expected to see the RoboCop 3 gunarm in this game but at this point if they haven't even hinted at it I'm guessing it won't be in the game. There is even a new minigun shown off, and all the focus seems to be on the cryo cannon. Not a big deal, and I could still be proven wrong, but with all the attention to detail and references to the movies I was definitely hoping to see the gunarm, and maybe the flightpack too.

I'd love a chance to use it, especially if you get a tasty animation of Robo removing his arm and attaching it. Hell, even the Titus "effort" managed that, even if it wasn't the same Gunarm.
I can't imagine it'll happen though. I think even though Rogue City and Unfinished Business bridge the gap between 2 and 3, it definitely leans way more towards 1 and 2 than it does 3. Still, we've got the Otomo prototype in the trailer, and the trophy/achievement list has revealed some interesting tidbits.
At this point I'd settle for a nice Easter egg. The story synopsis mentions the mercenaries get a hold of Robo's chair and manage to access OCP systems through it, and thus take over the OmniTower, so maybe we'll see some other tech, say, oh I don't know, a Flight Pack or Gunarm perhaps?
I'd even take a cameo on a computer screen. Miranda seems to know a lot about Robo and has an allegedly shady past...

Since Robo 3 just puts the gunarm without any explanation at the begining of the film, I think this game could include it at some point, since the whole "Rogue City" aspect serves as a bridge between sequels. And, if Teyon put it in there, it´s clever to avoid showing it in promotional materials and give the player a surprise when it happens.
To me it´s more possible to have then putting the gunarm over the jetpack. I guess, since it´s a first person shooter, they could do it "easily", but can´t figure out how they could make it work over levels that are designed for walking on their floors.

I was thinking since Rogue City follows 2 so heavily that Unfinished Business would be more focused on leading into 3. There are definitely some signs its going that way, but doesn't mean he will get the gunarm specifically.

What I imagined for the jetpack was more of an on-rails section, like when you operate a turret on the back of a vehicle controlled by AI. The path is predetermined but you can aim as you fly over the city. But this idea seemed less and less likely as we saw more of what this game is about. With the single tower location, it wouldn't make much sense, but maybe once you get to the top you find the jetpack and have to fly away.
I don't think there is much chance of seeing the jetpack though. In the movie they even mention it is just a prototype. But Robo was using the gunarm from the start of 3 so it would make a lot more sense to see the gunarm. There's always a possibility that they are going to save that for another game, and keep the Rogue City series going with another game set between the movies.

I'd like that. I know the majority of people deride the third entry, but I've warmed to it over the last few years. It was a bit of a shame Rogue City didn't go into the third a bit more, other than a quick Media Break segment at the end with a report on the Kanemitsu Corporation's takeover of OCP.

That's not a bad shout. The only other way I can see it is you get it for one section, as they did with the Cobra Cannon in Rouge CIty, where you stomp forward obliterating everything in your path, with the righteous fury of a cyborg with unfinished business.

When I was a kid I watched RoboCop 3 so many times its probably still the RoboCop movie I've seen the most. It holds a special place in my heart, which is why I was so glad Rogue City at least acknowledged 3 instead of totally ignoring it. I saw a lot of people say "Rogue City is the true RoboCop 3" but its not even trying to be that, it sits neatly between the two films. Its more interested in trying up loose ends from the first two movies, but it was a game that respected the timeline of the entire trilogy. I'm looking forward to fighting some Otomo prototypes and seeing how they fit into the story.

There's a new trailer up, but there are some light spoilers so if you want to avoid any surprises then don't watch it.

The jetpacks! They can't just have you fight a bunch of dudes wearing jetpacks without letting you try it on, right?

Teyon will probably tease you with it then have a character make a quip about how ridiculous it would be to have Robo using a Flightpack.

Right lads, a dreaded double post.
I've been playing it for the last hour or so, and in spite of it being more of the same, I'm enjoying it just as much as I did with Rogue City.
So far there's a lot less "fluff". It's been pretty much non stop action so far and there was even a RoboFan (not '93 though) who gives Robo a little quiz with multiple choice answers. Needless to say, after reloading a bunch of times, I managed to pass it.
Also Pimp. They've already name dropped a character from the third film so hopefully the references keep coming!
