RoboPimp :
Any chance they could all get dumped together? Like instead of making individual deals for each release they make a deal with a distributor to release them all together? I know it seems unlikely but if all that footage is just sitting around this seems like the only solution that would lead to the rest being released. But if Screambox is not interested in continuing this series I imagine it is gonna be hard to get anyone to take a documentary about 2 without also having the documentary about the first, much more beloved film alongside it.

From what i understand it, unlike RoboDoc1 that had 4 parts, RoboDoc2 is only two parts. Robo3 and the series are even shorter with only one part each.

At this point that would probably be the best thing, to put it all together. But i doubt they will do that. I'm sure it must be very frustrating for the RoboDoc team.

It is also frustrating for the backers who have waited for almost a decade at this point and only received 1/3 of what was promised. And plenty haven't even received all of the perks for the first RoboDoc. It's been a shambles.

All their previous documentaries have been horror related, they made one for IT, Fright Night, Hellraiser and more which have all been released. But when they entered non-horror territory it suddenly got much more difficult to get the product out there for whatever reason.

They have a "Police Academy" doc also filmed and ready but no distributor for that either.

That's my take as well. Sure it's frustrating for them, but they had all the time in the world to figure this stuff. In the near decade this project was gestating there seemed to be no foresight, no structure for release, no plan besides film a ton of interviews and figure it out later. But it was also a project they charged people for in advance. So there was a big disconnect between the vision and the reality that continues to play out. But the sad thing is the great stuff they project seemingly exists, but it will not get out to the public unless they find someone else to pay them more money for the stuff they already got paid for, but not like just selling DVDs directly through the kickstarter or something like that. The distribution model is strange.

This is also why I did not back the project. I was always dubious of the kickstarter concept. Since this documentary I have only bought two things from kickstarter, both from established creators, and one took so long to arrive I still don't care for the process. I prefer to buy a product when it exists. In the longrun maybe that is the only way a project like this could have happened, but its a shame it could not have been a more direct and clear route.

Poor Robo, this reminds me of the situation with the statue and how long it just sat around before finally seeing the light of day. But the statue is there now, and he's not going anywhere. The first Robodoc did come out, and most people say its great. So there is still life to RoboCop, he just a little slow now... slower than usual. After all this I can't help but think of Rogue City. We got the game that was promised, and an unexpected little spinoff not too long after. A complete RoboCop project that actually went somewhere? That's got to the greatest achievements in RoboCop history since the 90s.

New "update" on RoboDoc 2 via mail:

Quote:
We are currently in negotiations regarding RoboDoc 2, including distribution and post-production funding. This process is complex and ongoing, particularly as the original distributor holds first refusal and has since restructured their company and release strategy. These factors have inevitably slowed progress, but work is continuing behind the scenes.

We understand frustrations around communication and fulfillment, and we do not take those concerns lightly. However, we have always stated that our primary channels for official updates are our website and Facebook, where we continue to share developments as they are confirmed.

We remain fully committed to this project and to our supporters. This has been a challenging journey, but it has always been driven by passion, not profit — and we stand by the work we’ve created.

I've been anticipating RoboDoc 2 and 3 more so than the first, so any slice of information is good.

I'm confident it'll come out, I'm just not confident I'll still be alive to see it.

Yeah, I´m more interested in everything after the first one, since we have plenty of information and featurettes from the first one, but little on sequels.

I´m starting to worrying about that too!

Pretty much the same for me. Hope springs eternal but, still, eh.

Not to be a put-down but Pimp made some good points about how the whole thing overall seemed done rather 'seat of the pants', with just an assumption if they did the legwork someone would just definitely bite on helping them distribute it. Given Robo is still an endeared property with some life and love in it I get having that assumption. But every facet of show business over the years has shown arguably much more 'sure things' never even getting off the ground - much less released, for myriad reasons. It is a shame as I know they've done gobs of work and don't want to discount that at all, and it should be showcased, not just for us fans but as a showing of a labor of love to preserving a part of what is now classic cinema. Will it be before dirty apes rule? Again, eh.
