That said...
It could be interesting to see the original print back in theaters. Sadly, I won't get to see it. Unless it DOES come to the US.

I'm pissed off it's only places in American and England that will have the newly restored print. What about the rest of us? Or why could this not be done later in the year when I will be in London and could dedicate a night to going to see the movie? Grrr....! _________________ Paddy

Is that an original poster or one just for this remastered version? Weird, either way!
Trip to Liverpool is already being planned. No way can I miss this. After the dissapointing news coming out about the remake so far, this has really raised my robo spirits.

I live in Preston so Liverpool is the closest. Day off work, train, beers, robocop, beers and train home in that order. Train prices and services in the north are abysmal but as I dont drive I dont really have a choice. Very excited!!!!

It'll cost me about £15 in petrol to get there and another £15 to get back going by car, I don't know how much a return train ticket is, but I must get there! _________________

While getting rid of the grain on some of the older films can be great (especially on low light scenes), from the pictures I have seen some of them make the characters look like they're made of plastic.
RoboCop and the sequel (I wouldn't know about the third as I still can't sit through it) look pretty damned good. Out of my Blu-Rays that are twenty or more years old they stand up as some of the better ones.
Of course I would love to see an even better version, but if it ruins the look with over enthusiastic use of grain reduction then that's a damned shame. Maybe some of the charm in older films (not that twnety years is really that old) is having a bit of grain.

The most perfect natural way too see the old robo again! is: in the cinema on film:Make a new Copy from the masterprint and show it on film not digital.
If you really want to see a perfect version of robo? you must see the masterprint on Film in a cinema at MGM studios.
The ROBOCOP film is meant to be seen in Cinema on film. Not Digital,VHS,Betamax,DVD, or Blu Ray. But this story goes up for every film made on film.

So, if I'm understanding you correctly, you're saying I should go see the master print in the cinema if I want to see the perfect RoboCop transfer?
Ok. Well I don't have a time machine that could take me back to 1987. I don't have the money to take a trip to the UK to see the remastered print. I missed my chance to go see it in Dallas last week ( and judging from the pictures of the theatre it wasn't too impressive). And I can't imagine MGM re-releasing it in theaters anytime soon. So I'm thinking bluray is my best option right now and they haven't done it justice YET.
