WTF is going on with MGM and ROBOCOP? first MGM was also involved with the production later no more. And is the release date for 2013 is cancelled!!!
Release date is now 2014. I hate MGM. i will boycot this movie entirety now. Wat could be the reason the movie is delayed? Script is bad? Kinneman needs more steroids and training to bulk up? They are not happy with Padilha? Verhoeven returns? Just like they did with promoteus?
They want to fire Kinneman? They want a new actor? Not happy with the suits?
Also Sony pictures is gone frome the list they were also involved with the production and distribution.
TELL ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 5, 2012) – Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures has partnered with Sony Pictures Entertainment to co-finance and distribute the film RoboCop, it was announced today by MGM Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officers Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum and Sony Pictures Chairman and CEO Michael Lynton and Co-Chairman Amy Pascal. Joel Kinnaman (AMC’s “The Killing”) is set to star in the film, which is a re-imagining of the 1987 Paul Verhoeven cult classic. Sony will handle theatrical marketing and distribution for the film, while MGM will handle production responsibilities as well as theatrical distribution in select international territories. The film will be released on August 9, 2013.
In recent years, the two studios have collaborated on numerous films, including The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Zookeeper, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, 21, Yours, Mine and Ours, The Pink Panther, the upcoming release 21 Jump Street (March 16, 2012) and the next Bond installment, Skyfall, which will be released on November 9, 2012.
RoboCop will be directed by José Padilha (Elite Squad) with a screenplay by Josh Zetumer and Nick Schenk. The film is scheduled to begin production this summer.

Nah, you won't.
It's happened before Beer so it's nothing new. First it was a 2005 release, then a 2010, then a 2013 and now 2014.
It really isn't a surprise. While some of us want to see this out of some sort of curiosity I don't think any hearts shall be broken over the new date.
Apart from yours that is.

Nah, you won't.
It's happened before Beer so it's nothing new. First it was a 2005 release, then a 2010, then a 2013 and now 2014.
It really isn't a surprise. While some of us want to see this out of some sort of curiosity I don't think any hearts shall be broken over the new date.

You are correct i won't boycot the movie. But i'm so angry, It makes me depressed,sad, and full of hate. Josh you for forgot one date, that was 2011.
So the movie is now delayed 4 times. WTF
What could be the reason they are delaying this movie each time? Can you tell me Josh?

I really wish I could.
My best guess would be that it's all to do with money. The studios involved probably want to get their hotter properties out on the screens and as a result RoboCop gets the shaft.
Or maybe they are not happy with certain aspects of the film. Maybe the script or the suit does not match their vision. To me it is a project that will always remain hard to get off of the ground as evident by the multiple delays.
Or maybe they just have nothing to go on except for some ideas and have not really made any progress. This would not surprise me given the lack of info we have considering the film was supposed to be out in just over a year.
EDIT: I just noticed is says 2014 for the USA and 2013 for Sweden. I really can't see the US getting it a whole year later unless MGM really don't want conflict with any of their properties. Either it will be 2014 everywhere but the page hasn't been updated or this is a really strange move.

They updated the page today on imdb! yesterday it was still 2013.
I think they will change it soon for the rest of the world onIMDB.
I remember something strange that Padilha said on youtube on one of his videos, he said something i´ll promise i will make this movie he acted a bit like Aronfosky when was asked about the upcoming ROBOCOP movie.
And one more thing. Padilha made a docu Secrets of the Tribe recently together with patrick tierney who acused Napoleon Chagnon in his film.
the moment Napoleon Chagnon saw the movie he wanted to sue them in court about that movie secrets of the tribe and the book Darkness in El Dorado.

Of course since it does not specify any month, there is no telling how far back it was pushed. The original release date was august 2013, so hopefully it was just delayed to early 2014.
With the case of Sweden getting it first(at the moment) could be an error but it has actually happened before that Europe has gotten some movie many months before the US, for whatever reason. Perhaps they are testing it out?
