Yeah my dad took me to see it in 1987 and i was almost 8 when that happend. I turned out good I never got nightmares or anything like that. I was not too much older when i saw ALIENS on HBO for the first time either. Still no nightmares. I guess it does depend on the parents and the child. But i would say im a rare case as are most that saw it young
Like i remember seeing the Friday the 13th remake a few years ago in the theatre, there was alot of sexual stuff and it was pretty raw for rated R movie. Stilling behind me was acouple of kids that were maybe 8 years old...I was totally embarrassed sitting there watching that ..lol I dunno it was strange.

First R rated for me was Saturn 3 on betamax,Fairly tame had a spooky ass tone too it for a kid,What made the biggest impact on me was a Film that I had'nt even at the time yet but looking through a starlog magazine I gotta look at "Alien" and it fuckin' scarred me until I was 14...I only got over my fear of even the word Alien after seeing Aliens on a dare when it came out in the movie theatre "Could'nt let my chick get the best of me"..But thats the only traumatic film experiance I can ever recall H.R.Giger definately tapped my nightmares...

My first R rated movie in the theaters was Robocop 2
The addition of Samuel L is good, but it's still not going to make me like a remake. _________________

I was 3 or 4 when I saw Robocop, Aliens and Hellraiser 3. Though they traumatized the fuck out of me, those are some of my favorite movies series today. Can you guess which one I like best? _________________

When I first saw the movie, it was a tv edited version. Which would be PG13 at worst. I was a good bit older when I saw the full theatrical version, then even older when I saw it uncut. The first rated R movie I ever saw on video was John Carpenter's The Thing. Definate emotional scarring did occur, no denying that.
Also, I agree with Josh. I feel the new RC will be more tolerable and enjoyable if it goes in a slightly new and different direction. If they were to say do something similar to the remake of Hitchcock's Psycho, I wouldn't be as pleased. The last thing I want. Is a scene per scene copy with everything being almost exactly the same. The you tend to critisize and compare things even more, and it will never be good enough.

I sense an awkward yet surprising amount of optimism? I'm going to attempt to watch it with an open mind, like a 4 year old seeing it for the first time.
