My soon to be 7 year old loves robo 3, and so did I when I was a kid for that matter. I think it's a good kids movie like monster squad. So fuck it. |
You name it dude. How dare they make kid's stuff out of Robocop dark world is beyond my understanding.

Not even nostalgia helps me out in R3's case. R1 was awesome cause it was the most brutal movie Ive ever seen and so it was the most adult and serious scifi/comic book movie Ive seen at that point. Some people seemed to recognize it, and I talked few of my friends from school into seeing it and they were in shock and some used to hide their Robocop copies between magazines or something like if its a porn movie, it was that brutal. R2 had enormous hype where I lived and was in every major magazine and all the oldest kids and HS seniors were talking about it. The arcade game came out and on and on. When R3 came out, nobody even knew it did and I was the only person aside from my cousin who had seen it. So, nobody cared, nobody knew about it and I was also living in a different place already, not where I grew up, so with all that it has no nostalgic value for me

I think thats a good way to describe it. If one doesnt think of it as real, serious continuation of the story than its not that offensive. If taken as a separate, unrelated movie, or a spinoff or a kids reboot of the series, than its - like you said - a good kids movie, like Meteor Man or something along those lines. TMNT too perhaps

I've seen Robocop (along with Terminator 1, Transformers the movie 1986, Aliens, Predator and all Star Wars OT movies)...tens of thousands of times in my lifetime! Shows you what i do with my free time!

How many times? Since the start of the year or in my entire life in total? xD
I've been watching the entire RoboCop trilogy since I was five or six (I'm 22 now) and was a pretty big fan of it then. So I guess I must've watched it hundreds (if not thousands) of times since then.
I did watch all three movies twice since the start of this year however *biggrin*

RoboCop & RoboCop 2 maybe 25 - 30 times each.
RoboCop 3 perhaps 2 - 3 times.

RC2 60+
RC3- 15+
I actually just finished watching Prime Directives Dark Justice for the very first time.
Edit: I've been on a kick, watching the second movie a lot lately. Anyone have a link to the movie with commentary?

i had a bootleg vhs version which was literally 1080p even back then. it was crystal clear and not shot in a theater. i was in love with that movie even before the general public knew it existed. i was all of a day under 5 years old when this came out to theaters and i'll never forget this movie. i even bought the triple pack from wal mart before they discontinued it
