A couple of photos of the robo suit in Phil Tippett studio:

Did you know that ROM, a Marvel comics from the early 80's, was a major source of inspiration for Robocop?
It 's the story of an alien cyborg, ROM, coming from outerspace to help terrian fighting a xtraterrestrial invasion.
The interesting plot came later, when Rom discovered he will never be human again. He will never be able to love his woman like only a man can do.
by Losing his humanity, Rom felt more like a war machine rather than a sensible man as time passed. Does it ring a bell somewhere?

One hell of a comics, my favourite, not like the very hype shit we read nowaday.

I had a large Rom figure as a kid. Wish I still had it.
Strange thing is, it was put out by a company here in England called
"Palatoy" . It was part of their Action Man toy line. I never remember it being anything to do with Marvel comics at the time. I was stunned when I got a Rom comic a few years latter.

Don't for get the Iron man inspiration in the film too.

I'm not to sure of that. Ironman is not a cyborg, just a man wearing a metal suit he can take off whenever he want.
He doesn't have the same humanity problem than murphy, revive in a body of metal.
His new body is a prison.Neutral

This is from IMDb

During the scene in the convenience store, the stickup man selects an "Iron Man" comic book - an inspiration for the movie.

Also, in a way Iron Man is a cyborg. Tony Stark is not able to remove all of the Iron Man armor because a piece of shrapnel is lodged dangerously close to his heart, the armor is keeping the shrapnel from moving closer, and piercing his heart.

A character doesn't have to be exactly like RoboCop, in order for it to inspire the creation of RoboCop.

Very nice found about those ROM comics, Iwas just to say that Archive should add it to trivia facts about the movie in the web. But I just found there is actually a reference about it in the trivia section ->

http://robocoparchive.com/info/making1-2.htm

"If you look closely to the comic book rack another 'robot' comic book series appears too, its called ROM, also its about a human soul trapped in a robots body traveling the universe making things right. The comic book acually made 2 appearances in the movie, one on the comic book rack during the convience store hold up and then again during murphys flash back to when his son was watching TJ lazer, if you look closely to his left foot when the camera pans up on to him as hes saying "Wow, can you do that dad?" you also see the second appearance of ROM."

Since the server crash we should be very careful in saving to the web all valuable info we find in the board, this time it is already done.

Btw DJR2096, amazing robo pic that last one, have seen it other times but always at a very low resolution, I'm glad you found it so big ;D

So the loser pick up a copy of Ironman. On purpose or randomly? Confused
Well I know there is nothing like random in movie but I fail to see how Ironman inspired robocop. Neutral
Except the metal skin. Wink

I was surprised to find out that people didn’t know about the Iron man inspiration in the film. Was one of the first facts I learned about the Robocop.

This pic is like the big capture. Not sure if I got it off the DVD or not.

Lol. No worries. The suit standing in the studio looks really cheap and weak. its amazing how it shows up on film.
