I totally support HD versions of films, the process brings the film closer to the clarity of seeing it film projected I just don't agree with messing around with the original film's aspect ratio.

I compared HD screen captures with KTLA 5.1's over the air on Easter Sunday 2010; 1920x1080i) with these:

I used the latest stable K-Lite Mega Codec Pack's Media Player Classic to playback the MPEG-2 videos. It looks like KTLA did not crop the screen, but its colors look slightly different. That could be my player though.
