I found some more recent updates here. As of Dec 3 2012.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/imaginationstation/detroit-needs-a-statue-of-robocop/posts

Apparently they have had all parts 3D scanned, and the next step is to get foam parts out if it and then go to Detroit for final casting.

I know im just deraming but wouldnt it be awesome if everyone with a robo suit showed up at the unveiling dressed in it. I see a lot of people dressed in character sometimes when i go to see a new movie thats coming out. I havent been to the movies in a while but last time i did was at the pirates or cab. A lot of people were dressed up as Jack or whatnot, ok they were younger kids but still was pretty cool. Some of the costumes were quality stuff. LMAO

i've seen ALOT of backlash over the statue on facebook.

wcsx a station in detroit let the story out and like 20 people had the same idiot comment "why are we as tax payers spending money on this crap?"

all that noise got quiet once i said it was privately funded and i had to remind them theres a 3 ton fist in downtown detroit. Laughing Laughing Laughing

It is huge, but the overall form seems a bit too short and stocky Sad

It's pretty amazing! My only two gripes:
It's not the RC1 armor but I was expecting that. And the shoulders are too low. It looks like when the stand-in/stunt double wears the suit in the tv series. His shoulder armor is usually lower than the chest/back plates.
Mindchamber nailed it. The 'he's a cop killer' pose would be amazing.

yeah the arms are a huge woops moment. probably too late to fix since they are at the bronze stage. and you guys are right. something must have happened in the digital scan, he does look oddly short and wide.

Not really digging the pose. Holding out his hand like that looks a bit odd. Photo opportunity for tourists maybe to stand under the hand like that artist did? Who knows. Anyhow, if I made the pick he'd hold the auto-9 too. maybe in a pose something like this http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/underwire/2009/05/robocop.jpg

On the plus side the detail work is nice and I do think the camera adds a little "fatness" so IRL it probably feels a bit taller and less compact.

The details are quite good but they screwed up with proportions.. He looks chubby.. Legs are too short.. The head is way too big.. I would prefeer a 1:1 model done right..

Including the gun was never an option, but I don't see that as a big problem.

Overall I think it looks good. The lowered shoulders is a bit sloppy but the biggest problem for me is the use of the retarded open mouth look. I'm thinking it won't be as evident due to the statues size and the angle the visitors will be viewing it at, but it's a shame they did not go with a closed mouth.

which is why the "hes a cop killer" pose wouldve been so perfect, not to mention way more iconic, than this. which looks like hes in mid turn or something
