Nash :
there were plans for a sequel back in the 80e by Verhoeven, who knows how that would have turned out, i think not so good.

Well, it could have been the "corporate wars" script that Neumier and Miner worked on and that is as far from a superhero movie you could get. Very cyberpunk/bladrunner'ish.

Of course that was too edgy for the movie studio.

Can someone please tell me why Hollywood feels the need to remake certain movies which, in their original format were perfect cinematic creations and should be left well alone??

So 2012 is here and the ever growing hype on the upcoming RoboCop remake is under much discussion between die hard fans of the 87 original and the premise of what the reboot will bring to today's cinematic audiences??

With Jose Padilha stepping into the directorial shoes of Mr. P.V and a virtual unknown assigned to embody the title roll, I'm sure I'm not alone when I say "why, after 26 years remake RoboCop when the original made Sci-Fi cinematic history??"

Previous Hollywood remakes (Clash of the Titans, Conan, Hulk, Terminator Salvation) and the list goes on, were poorly delivered affairs!!! Poorly scripted, plotless and weak in all aspects to the originals. C.G.I is the true star to the remakes of today. And, I feel that this will be the under riding factor to the RoboCop remake. All C.G.I and nothing else. And, for sure, the original design of the suit (created by Rob Bottin) will be subjected to a 2012 movie update?? Perhaps a complete overhaul with very little emphasis to the original design?? You cant improve on perfection!!

I, like many will undoubtedly see the remake which is scheduled for cinematic release in August 2013. Please Mr. JP prove me wrong on all accounts from the above and create a remake the original would be proud of. One to truly stand shoulder to shoulder and toe to toe in 26 years of Sci-Fi film history.....

The answer is of course money. But also apparently the difficulty to come up with new ideas. This is why we see so many movies based on pretty much every book/comic/game out there and remakes of old movies.

It wouldn't be a bad thing to have remakes off books, comics, old movies etc. if the movies wouldn't have been so....lame and "empty". Less action, more drama... that's not the stuff we'd like to see in copies of our favorite heroes, really. Technology has advanced so much, too bad ideas are going the other way huh what
