I hope the new Mad Max becomes part of this list. Probably won't though.
If anybody has actually seen the first mad max, not the road warrior or beyond thunderdome, it is a very dark movie. I like it.

I'm really a fan of the entire trilogy. For some reason people hate on the third one, but I like it. I like them all. Heck, the original Mad Max is the first movie we ever owned on video 
Rumor has it the new one takes place BEFORE "Road Warrior", so that should mean we'll see the Black Interceptor one more time.

Dredd is not a remake. It's a reboot based on an existing source material. Just like how the Christopher Nolan Batman films aren't remakes of the Tim Burton films and any other that came after him.
I'd say Night of the Living Dead is pretty on par with the original (the 1990 one, not the 2 other remakes that are out there apparently.)

Remakes instead of reboots, I take it.
Casino Royale with Daniel Craig is massively better than that crap 'comedy' film.
There's probably a load of anime remakes that are better than the earlier ones.
The astro boy cartoon from the 2000s is probably better than the earlier ones.
Reboots that are better than the original.
As in, same concept, different story.
They should be judged on their own terms.
RoboCop 2014 is better than the 1987 one. Its better written, better made, better everything.
They're both absolutely awesome. But the reboot is better.
They should'nt be compared with each other, really. They're both the same concept . But different story. So it's a proper reboot.
Deathrace 2000 is a reboot that is better than the original. Awesome film! The 70s one is the same concept, but a different story.

That thing! I saw that film, and was like, this a comedy?
Its not funny.
I was baffled how they were inspired to make the remake.
The remake is mediocre to OK. At least it does what its meant to. Be funny.

Way to contradict yourself. And be off-topic (It clearly says 'remakes' - If you don't think R2014 is a remake, then it doesn't apply - that said, it's a remake). Finally, bullshit.
That said, there's still practically no remake I've seen that really improved on the original piece when I have seen the original. Many of them I have yet to see the original films so I won't speak in absolutes but thus far I stand by my original statement in regards to the ridiculousness of this topic.

I think ''Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn'' count as a remake. It has the same plot with the first flick but the budget was far bigger here and that was the reason Raimi did it look better. For me both flicks are equally entertaining but the second wins in the effects.
I don't know if the 2013's flick is good enough but from some scenes I have seen is pretty decent.

A remake that is better or equal to the original is The Time Machine.
Better in some ways, that is.
The 50s Time Machine is a awesome film. One of my favourites. They're both my favourites.
But the remake in the 2000s, did some stuff better.
It gave more explanation and history for the morlocks. And better looking morlocks. Like there were diferent types.
The actress was not as good, in the 2000s one, though.
And the tribes were a bit off.
I suppose a black and asian tribe is representative of the races about in new york.
There's a black tribe the leads are from, and a asian tribe.
Like the all white tribe was representative of the races about in england when the original was made.
But Samantha Mumba was only a decent actress. The 50s actress was better.
