A few days ago some rumors appeared on social media. Arrow Films has the rights to RoboCop in UK. Had to ask them if it´s true, but little info for the moment.
If you don´t know them, it´s a company which releases cult films, and usually put effort to make their own bonus content. Will Europe have a decent release of RoboCop 2 and 3 as well? The only words they can say right now about R1 and the rest of the series are the following:
"It is in our plans but won’t be out until late next year so there’ll no further information for a while yet".
I hope they´ll have plans for the sequels, as the previous RoboCop (1) releases had nice featurettes of their own.

Why would they? We just had special editions of them from Scream. That's as good as it's gonna get. If people want more, wait till the second "RoboDoc". That'll cover the sequels best.

Well, the Scream Editions are Region 1 releases. I can´t watch them on my Blu Ray player (I´ll have to buy a multi-region one). Also, people here isn´t too happy for the extras, so there´s room to improve them here. And we have decent R1 releases to have another one in the works. In Europe RoboCop 2 and 3 comes with a trailer, would make more sense to work on these instead.

They will go better - just look at their releases of titles like The Thing or the recent Candyman... there is always further to go. This will be an absolute must I'm sure

I own some of their releases and I found great that they try to get a mix of old featurettes and their own new material for the films, even the most obscure ones. I only hope they won´t use "RoboDoc" as new extras, so I won´t have a spliced version of the documentary and the real deal

Weren't they the guys that released "The Guyver" a year or two ago? From what I've heard, their releases aren't always chock-full of bonus features, but the ones that are there are usually worth seeing. _________________ Anything you post can be used against you!

Yep. I got "Frankenhooker", The 2000AD doc "Future Shock", "Phantom Of The Paradise" and the two "Dr. Phibes" films, and while not every release had thousands of extras they deliver them with new interviews or archival featurettes. Which is more than the crappy releases of the sequels from MGM
With old flicks or cult movies it could be tricky to add bonus content, but I´m sure with RoboCop they could dig into the vaults and get some stuff from there.

Would be nice if they were able to re-release Robo 2 and 3 with the extra content we got from Scream Factory (and possibly even more) so those outside the USA could enjoy them. _________________

Well, not sure if they´d get the Scream Factory stuff, but I think that´s the point of them getting the rights, to release extra content with the sequels. If they´d go only for the first one, I think they´d miss the point. There are some good editions of the first film with featurettes, so I guess they´re planning to do the whole trilogy and add new stuff in 2 and 3. I asked them if they´d have the chance to get the TV stuff as well, but their reply was vague enough to not saying much.

ChAnOoD : | I find it interesting, since the Arrow team told me they were aiming for the end of 2019 to release it. Too soon to start with ads about this new edition. |
I'd hardly call that an ad. It's a clip from the film they used to promote this release, but the reason becomes clear when you see which clip it is. The new years scene. It would be different if it was a professionally produced advertisement with details about the release, but I wouldn't make too much of this short clip from the film.

Some updates about the release:
“We're not doing a new restoration, but using the current master which we can emphasise is a director-approved 4K scan of the O-neg, though we are going to try and improve the unrated sections. No 1.66:1 option (not possible without going back to raw scans or starting again, plus was a concession to 4x3 TVs when Criterion released the film). No Robodoc due to scheduling and legal issues though we are working with the producers on some new extras! There are also no plans for a UHD release at this time.
We can't wait to tell you more about it later in the year!”
