I think a good idea was that OCP only infected a few machines to start a rise in crime but the technology they possessed ment they learnt to infect others.
As for Robo, I would have him as human as possible, but in a constant prison. That wouls lead to him questioning his own existance. Is he there for the sake of being there? Also, the fact that the public does not feel the same way as they previously did about him can only lead to him feeling more and more obselete.
Have a look at MC's drawing of Robo with his Auto-9 to his head, I think it captures the mood perfectly...

Never saw this picturem where can I find it?
I always thought the idea of him wanting to kill himself because of how he felt was very dynamic. Could he infact kill himself or is there some written program in where he can't. The line between human and machine gets blurry alot.

A sequel would be more preferable to me, and one that ignores Robocop 3. I do like the Demolition Man-style idea that was presented on the first page. If I were conceive a sequel, this is what I'd like to see:
Delta City in the same condition as Old Detroit only MORE violent. This would be the result of people getting everything they wanted and living in a self-gratifying Utopia but find it crashing down very suddenly (much like the 1920s and Depression). The cause would be the financial collapse of OCP, caused by its own greediness. Because they were used to having everything, the new criminal element of "Old Delta" now takes what they want by any means necessary.
This would continue the themes of excess and banality started in the first film, but now it would add the theme of "What happens when capitalism fails?" The collapse of OCP would mirror current corporate failings a la Enron.
I like the idea of Robocop being off-line and in storage. When Delta City finally came about, crime virtually disappeared because all of society's "needs" (aka wants) were met. Robocop became obsolete, and OCP deactivated him despite the fact that he is still very human in spirit. The theme here would be about oppression and loss of basic human rights.
It would now be up to Robo to help fix OCP's legacy of bad mistakes and return peace to Delta City, which would likely resemble a society free from the rampant totalitarian capitalism that we saw in Robocop 1 and 2.
The extent to which other old characters should be resurrected should be limited only to Robo and ED-209 (also put in storage due to no crime). Having Lewis' daughter, granddaughter, whatever would just come off very tacky. Robocop should find himself in a world that is completely foreign to him, compounding the losses that he's endured. The only constant for him would be OCP's legacy: Delta City, ED-209, and corruption.
So anyways, that's my take on a Robo-sequel.

I think Robo confronting his grown up son would be interesting...perhaps his son tries to find in after his mother on her death bed tells her son what REALLY happened to his father. So he tries to bring his father back , and wants to help the Murphy side and human side win out over the machine.
That could be interesting fi done right.

and why no?! .. I liked the scene in the PD .. but the only one thing what looks strange was .. the Robocop looked so old and small ... and the his son Jimmy was so high ..bigger as the Robocop what really looks strange !
I would like more to see a scene .. Murphy/Robocop + his wife !

Plus the acting was really, really bad.
I would like to see a father son scene....if done the right way.
remember the episode from the t.v. series where Murphy's dad
finds out robocop is his son, i thought that turned out pretty good.

I don't wanna remake, I want a sequel!
Kind of a Prime Directives type of plot (no Robocable or a virus or anything),
Robo being obsolete and maybe cryogenially frozen or something. Then brought back for some reason.
